Understanding GRE Scoring

1/10/2022

GRE scoring is pretty easy to understand. You get a verbal, math, and essay score after taking the test.

The verbal score is between 130 and 170... and so is the math score. 130 is like a zero; 170 is perfect. Average scores are around 153 for each, so an "average GRE score" is about a 305 or so.

The essay is scored by both a computer and a human, and it's from scored from 1 to 6 in half-point increments. An average essay score is about a 4.
